In years past there were attempts by a couple of independent folks that I know, to run fair tests, but both stopped, finding it way to difficult to do so on a level playing field with a fair and complete sample database. For instance, if they simply download a bunch of samples into a folder without actually installing the sample into the locations where they are commonly found, many scanners will never detect them as infected. So important with cybercrime becoming more and more of a threat. In addition, Malwarebytes has far less system impact compared with Sophos Home, and it’s able to coexist with other antivirus software, which Sophos Home can’t. Regarding comparative reviews, I have problems with all of the ones I've found. Cost is a big driver so if i malwarebytes works its by far the cheaper of the solutions. Malwarebytes’s features are all pretty good, and the malware scanner and web protections are both available on its free plan. I was thinking of just going with the paid version of malware bytes vs using Sophos and AVG. Malwarebytes covers up to 5 devices across Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, and it includes: Malware scanning. Consumers can get that same high-end antivirus protection in the form of Sophos Home Premium. I don't think you will get any type of recommendation from the MalwareBytes staff regarding competing products and I don't feel comfortable doing so either. Being a non profit budgets are tight we have about 60 computers that needing protecting. Business-level antivirus is all about central management, and Sophos is a big name in that realm.
